Introduction

A place in the far North where the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean mix.... Northern Cape in rugged Norway. Here, for a period of two and a half months, the sun does not set at all. There are few attractions that enjoy such fame. And although it is by no means in the middle of Europe and not easy to get to, more than 200,000 tourists visit it every year....

The expedition is almost an expedition...almost, because with accommodation in hotel beds, with meals at the table, with elements of a recreational scenic tour. The main goal is a viewpoint at the North Cape in Norway, with several natural and architectural wonders on the way. An expedition for true globetrotters... devoid of great comforts... rather harsh, like the rugged terrain over which it runs... an expedition for the persistent, one might say... 12 days on land with harsh and variable conditions, more than 5500 kilometers on wheels, long and demanding day sections, but views that compensate for any hardships.

WHAT IS THE PROPOSAL AND FOR WHOM?

NordKapp...

The Roof of the World - that's what it's called by travelers waging endless disputes with each other over the rightful owner of this honorable title. It is certainly not the friendliest or easiest place in the world to visit. To the eyes of conquerors arriving at the Cape of the North appear harsh and steep cliffs, scant vegetation and the boundlessness of the sea. In an exposed place stands a distinctive steel globe, adorning the vantage point, a symbol of the place. This is where travelers come, as if to a mecca. Here, too, we will put our feet up, delivering them with our motorcycles.

On the way back, there will be no shortage of impressions made by the natural wonders of the Scandinavian peninsula on its western side:

  • located behind the Arctic Circle, rising out of the water, heated by warm gulf currents, with picturesque beaches - the Lofoten archipelago
  • winding through an archipelago of several small islands and skerries in the bay of Hustadvika, by the exposed part of the Norwegian Sea, considered the most beautiful in the world - Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsvegen) on the route of road 64
  • located in the vicinity of Åndalsnes, the so-called Trollveggen (Wall of Trolls) - the highest vertical wall in Europe, with a height of more than 1200m, overhanging in places up to 50m from the base, is the place where the history of climbing was created
  • also in the vicinity of Åndalsnes, the so-called Trollstigen (Troll Road) - a road built in the 1930s, climbing to a plateau behind a mountain massif containing a wall of Trolls, is known for its picturesqueness and a large number of sharp turns of 180 degrees each
  • almost finally, the king of all fjords - Geiranger - UNESCO-listed, with the most idyllic landscape and at the same time the most dangerous area in all of Norway, threatened by more than 70-meter tsunami after one of the fragments of the rock overhang breaks off in the future, which will undoubtedly happen one day

Emphasis in the organization of the expedition was placed on determining the shortest possible route with as few stops as possible to reach the main destination (the Northern Cape) and selecting a return route with selected places of great tourist attraction, ensuring a balance between travel time and time spent stationary, and creating conditions for establishing good relations between participants, while taking care to maintain the expected privacy. It is at the same time a tourist trip, by definition aimed at getting to know the country, interesting places and local culture. Accommodation in hotels, motels, guesthouses and warm campsites, at least one table meal a day, make the trip relatively comfortable.

It is also another of the trips implemented in this destination in the formula of touring, motorcycle and caravanning (see also the proposal for a campervan trip HERE). Participants travel in a group, spend organized time under the supervision of a pilot/guide, and free time according to their own preferences, care about good relationships and support each other.

A proposal suitable for all those who find in themselves the spirit and fierceness of a traveler, dream of distant journeys, but do not have the experience and time necessary to organize such a trip well. For all those who feel much more comfortable in the assistance of someone who will guide, advise, help, organize, communicate, literally - cushion and allow you to enjoy the time and place, allow you to fully relax taking over the tedious and laborious organizational tasks.

On the road, the plan is the very gems of western Scandinavia: Narvik, Lofoten, Trondheim, the Atlantic Road, Trollstigen, Andalsnes, Geirangerfiord, Rondane. • Catering: -/L/-
  • accommodation: in or around NordKapp
Czas approx. 10 hours (+stops)

Ahead of us is the longest part of the expedition - nearly 800 km of road and many difficult hours. We are already far north, so the day will not be over... literally and figuratively! Where we are going and during this period the sun hardly disappears around the clock. The hardship of today's journey will be rewarded by the destination itself - the North Cape.

  • Catering: -/L/-

Trasa 0 km

After 3 days of quite grueling travel in variable weather conditions, we have a rest day planned. It is important both for recuperation and to increase the chances of conquering the Cape. The capricious aura can be merciless to visitors and even in the middle of the local season can surprise with snow.

We will spend this time completely at ease exploring the area, soaking up the harsh climate and attacking the Cape in any short-lived weather window.

DAY 6

Our expedition assumes only the conquest of the Northern Cape, a day's rest and return via the western side of the Scandinavian peninsula.

In this formula, unfortunately, we do not have time to savor the place and enjoy the many attractions of the area. So we invite you to enjoy a vacation in Norway and a few days in the north...!

We have not planned a very long (for the form of the expedition) route for today. We will leave from under NordKapp before 9:00 a.m., with about 550 km to cover with a still long day.

  • accommodation: in Reine, or surrounding areas
Czas approx. 9 hours (+ stops)
Trasa approx. 580 km

We are going to Lofoten!!!

Located off the northern coast of Norway, already beyond the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands are among the most beautiful islands in the world...!!!! The archipelago stretches for more than 100 km, and includes dozens of islands and islets, but its spine is made up of four main islands connected by bridges - Moskenesoy, Flakstadoy, Vestvagoy and Austvagoy.

From this southern edge of the archipelago to the farthest northern tip of the archipelago runs the E10 road, recognized as one of the National Tourist Routes, with breathtaking views. The road passes through Sorvagen and the picturesque lagoon village of Reine . To its north, in the vicinity of Ramberg and Flakstad, stretch white-sand covered beaches nestled at the foot of snow-capped mountains. Here we will spend 2 nights and tomorrow's day without a motorcycle!

Dalej
DAY 7
NORWAY: Lofoten, a day without a motorcycle... well maybe short rides will be....

PLAN OF THE DAY:

  • organization according to participants' preferences
  • Catering: -/-/-
  • accommodation: in Reine, or surrounding areas
Czas 1 day
Trasa 0 km

Today we relax among (supposedly) the most beautiful views in the world. We will taste and feel the...

In the bays and by the fjords, picturesque villages where the inhabitants are engaged in fishing from their grandparents. "Gold" of the Lofoten Islands is cod, due to the warm Gulf Stream flowing around the islands. Red wooden houses on stilts standing just off the shores... called rorbuers - former shelters and fishermen's huts (the first, built in the early 12th century, were 4 by 4 meters, with compacted earth instead of a floor and a place for a hearth). Today, many of them have been turned into summer homes for tourists with the most modern equipment possible.

The islands offer so many interesting places that the selection and preparation of the day's program without the participation of the participants would not make sense

Dalej
DAY 9
NORWAY: Lofoten (Moskenes ferry) -> Bodø Fergekai (ferry) -> Kulstadsjøen

PLAN OF THE DAY:

  • ferry crossing from the Lofoten archipelago (Moskenes) to Bodo
  • Drive on the roads of Norway near Hattfjelldal
  • Catering: -/L/-
  • accommodation: in or around Hattfjelldal
Czas approx. 5 hours (+ stops)
Trasa approx. 380 km

We are leaving the Lofoten Islands. We take the ferry from Moskenes to Bodo. We set sail at 7:00, so we leave the lodge very early (we have to be at the marina before 6:00). The ferry crossing will give us an equally exciting and breathtaking experience. Where rocks rise from the sea and the ferry seems to flow into them the views are fantastic.

Again we will be on land after 10:15 a.m. Full of positive impressions and exciting memories we move on. Today we have a small distance of just over 300 km to cover near the town of Hattfjelldal, where we will stop for the night.

Dalej
DAY 10
NORWAY: Hattfjelldal Trondheim Surnadal

PLAN OF THE DAY:

  • Drive on the roads of Norway in the vicinity of Trondheim
  • Drive on the roads of Norway in the area of Surnadal
  • Catering: B/-/-
  • accommodation: in Trondheim, Surnadal, or surrounding areas
Czas approx. 7 hours (+ stops)
Trasa approx. 500 km

We set out at the customary time of 8:30, after breakfast. The plan for today is to drive near the Atlantic Road and stay as close to the beginning of the road as possible. We will stay in the small town of Surnadal, or its immediate vicinity. On the way we will pass Trondheim with one of the most famous ski jumps, so if the weather is good - we will drop by the hill for a few photos.

Dalej
DAY 11
NORWAY: Trondheim -> Atlantic Road -> Troll Road -> Geiranger

PLAN OF THE DAY:

  • travel along Route 64 on the Atlantic Road
  • ride along the Troll Road
  • Åndalsnes waterfall
  • Geiranger fjord
  • Catering: B/-/-
  • accommodation: in or around Geiranger
Czas approx. 8 hours (+ stops)
Trasa approx. 350 km

A lot of kilometers to do... however, the experience of driving the designated route will make up for any hardships. We set off immediately after breakfast, no later than 8:30 a.m. Ahead of us is the Atlantic Road with a designation of 64.

The Atlantic Road, considered a remarkable roadwork, which is formed by systems of bridges and causeways over Hustadvika Bay. Driving this road, one has the sensation of traveling across the open ocean, and the most impressive is driving over the bridges during summer white nights, when the sun glides low over the horizon. We, unfortunately, will cover the route at noon, which will not in any way detract from its incredible fame.

The impressions of the day are not over yet. One of the biggest tourist attractions in Norway (an ironclad, one might say) is Trollstigen, or Troll Road, or literally translated as "troll ladder"... The view from the top of the narrow and steep road (with a gradient reaching 12% in places) with eleven very sharp turns in very much like a ladder. It begins with a gentle climb deep into the Isterdalen valley, then turns into an acrobatic traverse leading to the Alnesreset Pass at 852 meters above sea level. From here the gentle descent begins again to the village of Valldal on Nordfjord. Halfway along the route we will stop next to a small bridge to admire the magnificent Stigfossen waterfall falling from a height of 180 meters with a big bang.

Dalej
DAY 12
NORWAY: Geiranger SWEDEN: Torsby

PLAN OF THE DAY:

  • Drive along the designated route on the national roads in the vicinity of the village of Torsby
  • Catering: B/-/-
  • accommodation: in or around Torsby
Czas approx. 7 hours (+ stops)
Trasa approx. 500 km

It's time to go back... the direction of Nynäshamn near Stockholm. The stretch of road that separates us will be traveled in two days. We set off at 8:30, right after breakfast. The targets for today will be the area around the town of Torsby, located just over the border with Sweden. We have planned to spend the night there. We have about 500 kilometers of inland roads to cover today. The landscapes aren't over yet, although what we'll see inland will be significantly different from the views of recent days.

Dalej
