SRI LANKA sightseeing by comfortable BUS with option for MOTOcycle... 14 days of exploration combined with relaxation on southern beaches

Completion of participants in Colombo (international airport) in the morning. A van picks us up from the airport, transporting us to the first base camp near Habarana. Here the beginning of our adventure, organization of groups, means of transportation. From here, excursions in the area for the next two days.

We set off after breakfast, a stretch not too long and time-wise also within the European norm... We go to Kaudulla National Park, or Hurulu Eco Park (depending on the actual accommodation) for a scheduled jeep safari - a miniature of the Kenyan one. From there we return to base camp, and the willing to Polonnaruwa - the former second capital of Ceylon.

On this day we will make up for what we did not manage to do in the previous days, and if we feel like it - we stay in and around the hotel for a day of chillout and implementation of ideas of our own. The program suggestions include the Lion Rock of Sigiriya (an option for those who want to, the place is very commercial and besieged by tourists), Pidurangala, an excursion to Sigiriya village, the Golden Temple in the Dambulla cave.

Sighiriya and Pidurangala are considered by many to be the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka. The former is a miracle of nature and at the same time a miracle of human hands - a fortress was erected on top of a huge rock monolith in the 5th century AD, the ruins of which still inspire awe. It is besieged by tourists from early morning until late afternoon. We will climb the latter - Pidurangala - from where the views are beautiful and the congestion disproportionately less.

The Buddhist Golden Temple in Dambulla, dating back to the 1st century BC, consisting of five shrines. It represents the largest and best-preserved rock temple complex in Sri Lanka, which we will visit en route to Kandy.

On the way to Kandy, one more temple on our list, in the village of Matale - Muthumariamman Kovil - a Hindu temple, said to be one of the most beautiful. We will also visit the central point in Sri Lanka, reaching Kandy in the afternoon. There, a bit of culture in the traditional edition - a performance and demonstration of traditional dance and an evening ceremony of adoration of relics at the Temple of the Tooth of Buddha in Kandy.

The day will be spent driving around Kandy....

The day's program will include culinary surprises.... What kind of surprises? You will find out for yourselves.

Evening in Kandy itself, wandering around looking for souvenirs of the island, tasting street specialties. Also in the evening, a walk around the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic). This is the most important place for Sri Lankan (and not only) Buddhists. The most beautiful of the temples on the island. It's a place we'll try to visit during an evening ceremony, when it's already quite dark outside (only spotty diffused artificial lighting makes it possible to find your way through the gloom), and the eerie rhythm of drums echoes through the ether....

Near Kitulgal, the iconic film, winner of as many as 7 Oscars - "Bridge on the River Kwai" - was shot on the Kelani River. Our plan is to set our lenses on the filming site and take our own panoramas. If the weather conditions are right, we'll go rafting on the river and then have some tasty rice with curry at a local restaurant. Kitulgala is located in an agricultural region, this is where we can taste what red bananas taste like.

Optionally, we will organize rafting a little closer - on the Kitulgala River.

On our way to an overnight stay scheduled in Nuwara Eliya, we will pass through a region captivated by some of the most beautiful landscapes on the island. In it we will see high, majestic mountains covered with evergreens, tea plantations, waterfalls and vegetable terrace gardens. Some of the world's most beautiful railroad routes run through Nuwara Eliya, there are unlimited trekking opportunities, and active recreation is facilitated by a pleasantly cool climate. Among other things, the region is inhabited by plantation Tamils, brought here by Europeans during the colonial period to grow tea and vegetables. It is to their presence that the area owes its fair number of colorful Hindu temples scattered among rows of tea trees stretching to the horizon.

An iconic train that glides through the most beautiful areas of the island at low speed, allowing passengers to (nonetheless quite risky) travel with the doors open and on the carriage steps. Many instagram photos are taken on this very train. We will take a ride on the Nanuoya - Ella section.

We will spend the day in the Ella Valley, even most of it in the village of Ella itself (a small resort that is quite popular among tourists due to its numerous trekking routes). The village, "overgrown" with small guesthouses and numerous restaurants, has its own unusual climate, and due to its high altitude, the air temperature here fluctuates around 20 degrees Celsius all year round. We will approach Little Adam's Peak , from where we will have a magnificent view of the valley and Rawan waterfalls. We will also have the opportunity to photograph these in close proximity.

Nearby valley Hortons Plains National Park (Hortons Plains Nationnal Park). Very winding roads, unearthly and full of green views. On the vast plateau look out for majestic waterfalls, streams, rivers , all against a backdrop of dense rainforest and savannas. In 2010. Horton Plains National Park was listed as a UNESCO site.

It's time for the southern part of the island and we start with Tissamaharama - a town in the Hambantota district, with the ancient Buddhist temple of Raja Maha Vihara!

For wildlife lovers: Yala Nationa Park - the second largest (and one of 15 on the island) National Park.

Safaris organized from off-road vehicles here are comparable to safaris in Kenya, and anyone who has never been will be enchanted. Safaris in the park are organized twice a day. For us, it was possible to participate in the afternoon one, starting at 2 pm and lasting until about 6 pm.

For those willing with a water-guzzler, we have an optional activity: Yala Nationa Park - the second largest (and one of 15 on the island) National Park.

We go to the vicinity of Colombo, because Bentota, where we end our adventure in Sri Lanka. We take off the motorcycles. In the evening we have a farewell dinner for the group, tomorrow morning we drive to Colombo and depart in the afternoon.

We return to Colombo, where we end our adventure in Sri Lanka. We pass the vehicles, say goodbye to our guide. We return to the country.
